Would Crosby succeed as a player in the West? This question begs to answer that Sidney Crosby did not record a goal in his first trip to the western teams of the NHL after 3 years playing primarily in the East. However he did get 3 assists against Edmonton but everyone scores on Edmonton and Crosby had to get someone else to do his dirty work. In Calgary he was held without a shot on goal during the entire game, while 3rd liners like Isbester have scored against Calgary.
Surely we can begin to question Crosby's meteoric rise as he has never been truly tested by the best teams in the NHL. If Crosby played more times in the West, how often would George Laraque have to drop his sewn on gloves to protect Sid the Kid? I think big George would ask to be traded back to the East where he could throw a body check every 6 games. I won't deny that Crosby is a good player, but great? well, we'll have to see No points against two of the Westernmost Canadian teams and 3 assists against the bottom feeders: Edmonton Oilers.
Crosby would make a good second liner out West with the right kind of line mates. Is this the truth? I guess we will have to wait until next year!
